Wondering what to eat in Chiang Mai? Welcome to the second edition of My Local Eats, a guest post series in which foodies from around the globe share their favorite local places to eat and drink.
Today My Local Eats makes its first stop in Southeast Asia, a region I have dying to visit since high school. Alana Morgan, an American who lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand, writes Paper Planes, a beautifully photographed travel blog that regularly contributes to my Thailand envy.
Last weekend my friend invited me to spend a ski-weekend at her chalet in Switzerland, as well as attend a black-tie party held by the Rothschilds. (Yes, hosted by the European banking dynasty family that is partially royal.)
And guess what?

Hey everyone! Please excuse me for the week-long blog hiatus- I have not yet mastered the art of blogging while traveling. In fact I didn’t even bring my laptop to London which is where I just spent several blissful and sunny days. (Yes, sunny, warm London weather in March. Can you believe it?)
While I journeyed to London briefly in 2010, this was my first time really exploring the city and I have to admit I kind of fell in love. And took hundreds of pictures, of course.

Late again, sorry!
The girls were home sick for the entire week so I barely left the house- lame. Luckily I still got to enjoy Saturday strolling around Le Marais, which is my favorite neighborhood in the world in Paris.
So, readers, which picture do you like best?
Despite my extremely lofty travel expectations, I haven’t traveled nearly as much in Europe as I would have hoped- I’ve ventured off to only two destinations (Germany and Turkey) in four months! But my lack of travel is probably a good thing considering I’m saving up for so many future trips. And plus, with almost five more months in France, I’m sure I’ll be able to squeeze in a few short-distance train vacations before the end of my stay here. My current goals are Brittany, the French Alps and Northern Ireland… so stay tuned!
