Hey guys, I’m back from my five-day trip to Iceland! And before I bombard you with a deluge of posts, I wanted to share my Instagram photos.
In short, Iceland fascinated me. The people were kind, artistic, and quirky, and very proud of their Viking heritage. Reykjavik was delightfully hipster, with excellent coffee and no shortage of man buns. Surprisingly, Icelandic food was excellent – I’ve never had better lamb or smoked fish.
But I especially fell in love with Iceland’s diverse landscapes. One moment we were passing craggy green cliffs and black sand beaches, the next we were driving through fields so bleak and rocky they might as well be Mars. And of course, the waterfalls blew my mind.
Despite the short trip, my travel buddy Adam and I covered a lot of ground. My favorite adventures were road-tripping the south-coast, scuba-diving between the North American and European tectonic plates, and almost getting bucked off a sassy Icelandic horse.
Unfortunately my wifi SD card wasn’t working (ughhh) so many of these photos were taken on my iPhone. Though funny enough the top-liked photos were all iPhone – go figure.
Without further ado, the best of Iceland via Instagram!

Definitely go, it’s such a unique and beautiful place!
Iceland is one of my places to visit! I just came back from New Zealand and I heard the landscape is similar!
New Zealand is also on my list – someday!
Love all these shots! That picture at Silfra is amazing!
Thanks! I really loved diving there – such a unique experience.
Absolutely stunning pictures! I’m looking forward to reading the future Iceland posts.
I can’t wait to write about it! I still can’t believe how much we crammed into 4.5 days.
Guuuuuuh, those pictures are so beautiful. I went to Iceland in winter, and I would love to go back in summer to experience the midnight sun! The Silfra picture brings back memories! I went snorkeling in Silfra and couldn’t get over how clear the water was!
Wasn’t it insane? And so delicious and clean.
Neat!
Thanks for this ever so insightful comment, AdamAbroad :P
I visited Norway last year (first time in the Scandinavian region) and absolutely loved the beautiful landscapes. I’m sure I’d be just as captivated as those in Iceland. The scuba diving one is fantastic but I also love the waterfall and rainbow one too!
Thanks, Julie! After watching Vikings on History Channel I’ve been dying to go to Norway :)

It’s definitely a nature lover’s paradise!
Iceland looks amazing – I have never been but would love to visit. I never thought about going scuba diving in Iceland, but diving along a volcanic fissure looks pretty awesome.
It was insanely cool. I would highly recommend it!
Oh my goodness; Iceland has been on my bucket list for a long time and your pictures make me want to visit it even more! The architecture of the Concert hall is simply breathtaking (as are all of the waterfalls-of course)!
I loved Harpa! I love contemporary architecture so it was a treat to see it! As of course were the waterfalls :)
Gullfoss Waterfall it is unforgettable! It is one of the most beautiful sight on Earth. We are in love with Iceland. We were there last month and we are already planning our next trip. Our next destination is Akureyri.
